Questions
Is this an AI detector?
No. Nothing can reliably tell whether a person or an AI wrote a passage, and tools that claim to often flag human writers. This checker flags habits: stock phrases, named feelings and patterns that make prose read as generic, whoever wrote it.
Is my writing sent anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or saved.
Should I cut everything it flags?
No. A flagged phrase is a prompt to look again, not a rule. "Realm" is fine in high fantasy, and the odd em dash is fine in anyone's prose. Fix the ones that are doing the work your detail should do.
Where does the list come from?
It's the same standard Authr's writing agents follow: a list of phrases they never write, plus no named feelings, no "it's not X, it's Y", and no em dashes unless your book uses them. How the writing engines work.
