Writing engines built for prose.

Authr's agents run on writing engines set up for books, not chat.

The standard every agent writes to
  1. Specific beats general. “A dented Peugeot”, not “a car”. One exact detail over three vague ones.
  2. Show it, don't name it. Action, sensation and dialogue. Never “she felt a wave of grief”.
  3. Rhythm on purpose. Long sentences, then a short one that lands. No adjectives stacked by reflex.
  4. Subtext in dialogue. People dodge, interrupt and talk past each other. Nobody explains their feelings.
  5. Trust the reader. No moral at the end of the scene. No tidy epiphany in the last line.
  6. Your voice first. Your pen name and style guide win over its own polish. If you write plain, it writes plain.
And the phrases it never writes
  • tapestry
  • a testament to
  • delve
  • palpable
  • a symphony of
  • an intricate dance
  • a pang of
  • a flicker of
  • couldn't help but
  • barely above a whisper
  • a breath she didn't know she was holding
  • little did they know
  • It's not just X, it's Y

No em dashes either, unless your book uses them. Dark, violent or adult scenes come at full intensity, with no disclaimers and no fade to black.

What you can do

One craft standard

Every agent, brainstorm and Expand or Rewrite follows the same rules for prose.

Specific beats general

Exact detail over vague description. One sharp image instead of three soft ones.

Show, don't name

Feelings come through action, sensation and dialogue, not labels.

Rhythm on purpose

Sentence length varies so the short lines land.

Subtext in dialogue

Characters dodge and talk past each other, like people do.

No AI tells

A list of giveaway phrases is banned outright: tapestry, delve, palpable, a breath she didn't know she was holding, and more.

Your voice wins

Your pen name's voice and the book's style guide come before the engine's own polish.

Full intensity

Dark themes, violence and adult romance written as the story needs, with no disclaimers or fade to black.

No em dashes

Agents don't use them unless you switch them on for a book.

Three engines

Fast for quick checks, Balanced for most writing, Strongest on Studio. Pick one per agent.

Creativity, faithful to wild

Set how freely each agent writes, and adjust it for any Expand, Rewrite or brainstorm.

Notes that help

Editors and beta readers quote the line, say why, and suggest a fix. No compliment sandwiches.

Questions

Which AI model is behind Authr?

Authr's own writing engines. We pick and set up the models behind each engine for prose and keep improving them, so you choose Fast, Balanced or Strongest rather than a model name.

Will it change my style?

It's told not to. Your pen name's voice and the book's style guide come first, and every change arrives as a suggestion you can reject.

Is this on the Free plan?

Yes. Fast and Balanced are on every plan; Strongest is on Studio. Compare plans.
