Questions

What's the main difference between Authr and Scrivener?

Scrivener is the classic desktop studio for long-form writing: a binder, a corkboard and a powerful Compile, for a one-time price. Authr keeps the binder idea, moves it to the browser, and adds agents that review, suggest and keep your story bible straight.

Does Authr work offline?

No. Authr is a web app and needs a connection. If you write mostly offline, Scrivener is the better fit.

Can I bring my Scrivener project over?

Compile to Word (.docx) or MultiMarkdown, then import it into Authr. Headings become parts, chapters and scenes, and scene breaks split chapters.

Is Authr free?

Yes. The Free plan has every feature and unlimited books, with about 15 agent tasks a month for in-app agents. Agents you connect over MCP or the API are unlimited on every plan. Pro is $19 a month and Studio $49.

Try Authr next to Scrivener.

Free, with every feature. Import your draft and see what the agents make of chapter one.
