Authr

Build the world. Keep it straight.

Fantasy and science fiction live or die on consistency. Authr keeps a codex that links itself as you write, a graph of every relationship, a timeline of events, and agents that read all of it before they touch a scene.

The relationship graph: codex entries joined by relations and shared scenes.

A codex that fills itself in

Characters, places, objects, factions, magic systems and rules, each with a description and relations. Mentions in the manuscript are tracked automatically, so every entry shows where it appears. Share entries across a series so a character exists once for every volume.

See the whole web

The graph draws your codex as a map: relations you've set and who shares scenes with whom. Drag to arrange; the layout is saved.

Chronology without a spreadsheet

Put events in story order, separate from the order you tell them in, and link them to scenes and codex entries. Flashbacks, ages and travel times stay honest.

Agents that know the lore

Every agent reads the codex and style guide before writing. The Lead adds new characters and places to the codex as it invents them, and Continuity flags scenes that contradict what's established.

Brainstorm the hard parts

Argue out a magic system or a political crisis with the Lead, the Researcher and the Beta reader in one thread. When you've decided, Make it so turns the decision into codex, timeline and outline changes for you to review.

Research where it belongs

The Researcher searches the web and files sourced notes in the book's research, next to your own notes and reference images.

Questions

How is this different from World Anvil or Campfire?

Those are worldbuilding wikis first. Authr is a manuscript first, with the world built in, and agents that write and check scenes against it. See Authr vs World Anvil and Authr vs Campfire.

Can agents add to my codex?

Roles you allow can create and update codex entries, relations and timeline events. Everything they change is logged, and edits to your prose still come in as suggestions.
